Chicago – Glacier National Park, Montana Road Trip Day 7
Distance: 284 miles
Driving Time: 5 hours 46 mins (including all attractions)
Cost for Day: $250 (attraction fee + hotel + food)
Main Attractions: Grand Teton
Time at Attraction: Depends on what you choose to do
Cost of attraction: Incl in National Pass or Yellowstone pass.
The Plan:
Eat breakfast at the Old Faithful before heading out. Via West Thumb, drive to Lake Lewis for a quick stop. Entering the Grand Teton will reveal the grandeur of the Rockies against the snake river and various lakes. I recommend driving atop Signal Mountain, and then if you wish to do more, drive to Jenny Lake and take a boat ride to the mountain where you could hike along gushing water, let your face get wet right next to a water fall and if you wish, hike to the top the mountain for inspiration point. Regardless the scenery from the drive in itself is breathtaking, no matter which option you pick.

After the Grand Teton, a good stop in between in Jackson, WY. If you are not on a budget, feel free to spend the night here but be prepared to spend 300+ per night. Our budget friendly tip is to stop here en route to Rock Springs, WY where a relatively new hotel with good prices but rave reviews of My Place Hotel is our pick. Although this hotel is budget friendly it does not offer complimentary breakfast. If that is desired, stay at the Homewood Suites.
